How to win interior design work online

1. Lead with renders

Interior clients buy with their eyes. Put your three best rendered rooms at the top of your portfolio, in the style the job mentions (modern, Scandinavian, Japandi, traditional). See Upwork portfolio tips.

2. Define your e-design package

Homeowners do not know what to ask for. Offer a clear package: "One room: mood board, 2D floor plan, two 3D renders, a shopping list with links, one revision, delivered in 10 days." It answers their questions before they ask.

3. Ask for what you need

Photos, measurements, ceiling height, window and door positions, and the budget for furniture. Asking shows you have done this before.

4. Know local requirements for construction work

For commercial projects or anything structural, drawings may need a licensed professional in the client's country. Say clearly what you deliver and what needs a local architect or engineer.

5. Apply early

With only about 3 jobs a day, each one gets attention fast. Our estimate for the median interior design job is 14 Connects (about $2.10), so pick clear, verified projects. See how fast Upwork jobs fill up.
