How to win animation and 3D jobs on Upwork

1. Keep short, specific samples

Clients rarely watch a two-minute reel to the end. Keep 10 to 20 second clips for each type you do (motion graphics, 2D character, 3D product) and link the one that matches the job in your first two lines.

2. Quote by the second or by the asset

"$X for a 30-second motion graphics ad, script and voiceover supplied by you, two revisions" or "$X per product model with four renders" is easier to accept than an hourly estimate.

3. Ask about the style and the use

"Flat 2D or 3D look? Is this for Instagram Reels, YouTube or your website?" Format and length change the work, and the question shows you know it.

4. Agree on revisions

Animation revisions are expensive. Say how many rounds are included and at which stage (storyboard, animatic, final) changes are cheap.

5. Apply early

Our estimate for the median animation job is 11 Connects (about $1.65). See how fast Upwork jobs fill up.
