Is Upwork Freelancer Plus Worth It? (2026)
Freelancer Plus costs $19.99 a month and includes 100 Connects a month. At $0.15 a Connect, those 100 Connects are worth $15, so you are paying about $5 a month for everything else: instant job alerts, proposal insights, 0% fees on direct contracts and profile tools. If you apply often and will use those, it is worth it. If you send a few proposals a month, buying Connects is cheaper.
What Freelancer Plus includes
- 100 Connects a month. 90 more than the 10 free that some Basic freelancers receive. Unused Connects roll over and expire after a year.
- Instant job alerts by email or the Upwork app, for new jobs similar to ones you have applied to. You need at least one proposal on an active job first.
- Proposal and client insights: more data on applicants, bids and hiring activity on the jobs you look at.
- 0% fee on Direct Contracts, for clients you bring to Upwork yourself. Basic pays 5%.
- Full access to Uma, Upwork's AI assistant.
- Profile tools: keep your profile active while you're on a break, hide your earnings, and set a custom profile URL.
